I was born in Des Moines, Iowa 51 years ago into a 1st generation Italian household along with 8 other siblings. My family has always been involved in cooking. My father and mother were restaurant owners at one time, along with some of my other relatives. Living in a large family I grew up around food and have always cooked in some form or another. I will always remember my Italian grandmother and the special dishes that she had bought with her from Italy. She had a talent as an artisan bread maker and the bread was so delicious that I have always wanted to be able to create the same types of bread she did. I was fortunate because my grandmother passed her skills down to my mother in which she passed down to me.
I spent most of my adult life owning and operating my own business which was connected to the restaurant business. It consisted of repairing and installing commercial kitchen appliances. I spent a lot time in different kitchens and was always impressed with the chefs at work. I always felt that I wanted to cook professionally but as a young man I had chosen a different path and ended up building a very successful commercial appliance service business.
In 2007 I made a life decision to sell my business. After 35 years I wanted to try something different. I sold my company and signed up for culinary school at the Iowa Culinary Institute. I spent two years going to school to refine my cooking skills and graduatedwith a 4.0 grade average and received an associate degree in culinary arts. I was also awarded a scholarship to take part in the colleges French exchange program. I spent 30 wonderful days as an intern in France.
After my first year in school I decided I wanted to be a personal chef. I wanted a low key business that I could run by myself. I wanted the one - on - one customer relationship that I enjoyed in my last business, because I wanted the ability to work with the client to create different meals and to be able to offer small intimate cooking classes. In 2008 I joined the American Personal and Private Chef Association to get started and since then I have been providing meals on a weekly basics, private dinner parties and different catering events for my clients. I enjoy cooking all types of foods especially Italian, American, and Barbecue. I also enjoy baking artisan breads, pates, and pastries. I just love to cook!
I look forward to hearing from you!
